The course provides training for masters, chief engineers, officers and any other person on board with immediate responsibility for the loading, discharge and care during transit or handling of oil cargoes in bulk. Oil tanker safety, fire safety measures and systems, inert gas systems and crude oil wash operations, pollution and environmental prevention, operational practices and obligations under applicable laws and regulations are also covered. The basic properties of petroleum and petroleum hazards including handling are reviewed.
